The DGS-1210 is part of D-Link's third generation of Web Smart Switches, integrating advanced security and management features for improved performance and application scalability. Featuring an innovative fanless design for quiet operation and long life, the DGS-1210 is a complete and cost-effective solution for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Power over Ethernet (PoE) support

The DES-1210-08P features 10 concurrently usable ports: 8 PoE ports + 2 SFP ports. The 8 PoE ports deliver up to 30W with a total power budget of 65W. This gives administrators the flexibility to connect 802.3af-compatible devices such as network cameras and IP phones, as well as pre-802.3at devices such as 802.11n access points. For the first time, PoE functionality is programmable, so power consumption can be reduced at certain times to save energy.

Numerous Layer 2 features

Equipped with a comprehensive set of L2 features, these switches include IGMP snooping, port mirroring, Spanning Tree Protocol, and Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). IEEE 802.3x flow control allows servers to connect directly to the switch for fast and reliable data transfer. At 2000 Mbps in full duplex mode, Gigabit ports provide servers with high-speed data pipes with minimal data transfer loss. Network management features include loopback detection and cable diagnostics. Loopback detection detects loops created by a specific port and automatically closes the affected port. Cable diagnostics are designed to allow network administrators to quickly examine the quality of copper cabling and determine the type of cable fault.

QoS & Bandwidth Control

The switch is ideal for deployment in a VoIP environment, as it supports Auto Voice VLAN and DSCP (Differentiated Services Code Point) QoS for VoIP use. Auto Voice VLAN automatically routes voice traffic from an IP phone to an assigned VLAN, thereby enhancing VoIP service. With a single, higher-priority VLAN, this feature ensures the quality and security of VoIP traffic. DSCP marks the parts of an IP packet, allowing different service levels to be assigned to network traffic.
With bandwidth control, the network administrator can reserve bandwidth for important functions that require more bandwidth or may have high priority.

Protect your network

D-Link's exclusive Safeguard Engine protects the switch from excessive traffic caused by virus attacks. The switch also supports 802.1X port-based authentication and allows you to authenticate your network with an external RADIUS server.

Additionally, the ACL (Access Control List) feature enhances network security and helps protect the internal IT network. The DGS-1210-16 includes ARP Spoofing, which protects against Ethernet network attacks that can allow an attacker to intercept data frames on a LAN, modify traffic, or completely block traffic by sending forged ARP messages to the network. To prevent ARP Spoofing attacks, the switch uses ACL control to block invalid packets containing forged ARP messages. For added protection, the DHCP server screening feature masks packets from untrustworthy DHCP servers on user ports to prevent unauthorized IP assignment.

Versatile management

The DGS-1210 features the SmartConsole utility and a web-based interface that allows administrators to remotely control the network at the port level. SmartConsole allows users to easily discover multiple D-Link Web Smart Switches within the same L2 network segment.

This utility eliminates the need to change your PC's IP address and allows for simple initial configuration of your Smart Switches. Switches within the same L2 network segment connected to your PC are displayed on the screen for immediate access.

This allows for detailed switch configuration and basic configuration of discovered devices, such as password changes and firmware updates.

The DGS-1210 series also supports D-View 6.0, D-Link's network management system, and CLI (Compact Command Line Interface) via Telnet. Switch management via the CLI is possible via Telnet, allowing for basic settings such as changing passwords or uploading configuration and firmware files.

D-Link Green

The DGS-1210 implements D-Link Green technology, an innovative idea that allows you to save on energy costs without sacrificing performance and functionality.

The switch reacts to the shutdown of connected devices by putting the corresponding port into standby to reduce power consumption. It also automatically detects the length of connected cables, allowing you to reduce power consumption on connections using shorter cables up to 20 m.

D-Link Green certification ensures the switch complies with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives. The RoHS directive restricts the use of certain hazardous materials in the manufacturing of electrical and electronic equipment, while the WEEE directive establishes standards for proper disposal and recyclable packaging to help reduce waste.
