The DGS-1008P Gigabit PoE desktop switch allows SOHO and SMB users to streamline costs while still taking advantage of Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, allowing users to power devices such as wireless access points, network cameras, or IP phones directly through network cables. The DGS-100BP is equipped with Gigabit ports for maximum speeds and integrates D-Link's Green Ethernet technology to save energy when the switch is not in use. Its fanless design makes it completely silent, making it ideal for offices, libraries, or meeting rooms.

PoE (Power over Ethernet)

The first four ports of the DGS-1008P support the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. Each of these four ports can supply up to 15.4 watts, making it a convenient solution for devices that are far from power outlets or where interference from additional power supplies needs to be minimized. The switch automatically detects the power required by a connected PoE device, eliminating the need for configuration. A fail-safe mechanism shuts off power in the event of an unexpected PoE overload, protecting both the switch and the connected device.

Cable Diagnostics

Each time the DGS-1008P is powered on, it runs a microdiagnostic procedure to check the integrity of the connected Ethernet cables. The switch indicates any faults via LEDs on the front panel, making it easier for the user to troubleshoot cabling issues.

QoS (Quality of Service)

Despite being an unmanaged Plug and Play switch, the DGS-1008P can classify network traffic by evaluating the 802.1p and DSCP fields in Ethernet frames and IP packets, respectively, and forward them outward through its ports based on their priority. This enables seamless integration of video, voice, and data traffic without delay or loss of quality.

Energy saving technology

The DGS-1008P is part of D-Link Green™, D-Link's eco-friendly technology that saves energy costs, reduces power consumption, and extends product life without sacrificing performance and functionality. This switch implements Green Ethernet technology, which achieves significant energy savings by detecting the length of connected cables and adjusting power accordingly. It also detects port status and puts them into low-power standby mode when no network traffic is detected. These power savings have enabled the DGS-1008P to be designed with a fanless design, resulting in virtually silent operation and a significantly longer lifespan.
