Do your systems need a cloud-ready operating system to increase security and performance for modern applications? Microsoft Windows Server 2022 can modernize your data center or cloud platform by offering hybrid capabilities to leverage your technology investments. Now you can transition to multilayered security with Secured-core OS as the backbone, improve efficiency with feature options like Storage Spaces Direct and Windows Admin Center for easier management of modern applications with virtualization and containerization. With advanced innovations to boost system efficiency and productivity, Windows Server 2022 complements Hewlett Packard Enterprise servers, storage, and networking solutions to provide the technology you need to achieve your business goals. For available product codes, see QuickSpecs.
Features Security and hybrid cloud
- Microsoft Windows Server 2022 features the Secured-core OS option, which uses Trusted Platform Module 2.0 and the System Guard secure boot option to reduce the risk of firmware vulnerabilities and help provide multilayer security across hardware, firmware, and the operating system. - Windows Server 2022 supports the AES-256-GCM and AES-256-CCM cipher suites for SMB encryption, as well as TLS 1.3 to provide a communication channel between two endpoints with increased security capabilities. - To provide east-west storage encryption, Windows Server 2022 failover clusters support fine-grained control over the encryption and signing of intranode storage communications for Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV) and the Storage Bus Layer (SBL). - Improved Discrete Device Assignment (DDA) brings improved security, virtual machine isolation, and improved performance for imaging-intensive workloads. - For enhanced security, Windows Defender ATP provides access to deep kernel and memory sensors backed by Azure's massive security resources, helping improve proactive security and anti-tampering to reduce exposure while enabling timely responses across Windows Server 2022 endpoints.
Modernized server infrastructure
- Microsoft Windows Server 2022 features containers that allow you to package applications with their dependencies and use operating system-level virtualization to provide fast, fully isolated environments on a single system. - The Containers extension in Windows Admin Center enables containerization of applications, as well as troubleshooting issues for containers running on a host, such as opening a connection to a container's console, checking logs, or monitoring resource consumption. - Microsoft has dramatically reduced the size of the Windows Server core container base image, reducing duplicate payloads and removing unused optional components.
Storage Migration
- Microsoft Windows Server 2022 offers Storage Migration Service, a graphical tool that inventories data on Windows, Linux®, and NetApp CIFS servers, then migrates the data to newer servers or Azure virtual machines, without reconfiguring applications or users. - Capture and migrate legacy access permission settings along with the data for seamless operation of key business applications. Optionally, you can also transfer the legacy server identity to the destination server so applications and users can access data without changing links or paths.
